The programme brought together key stakeholders, including the Boda Boda Association of Kenya (BAK), county security agencies, Definite Insurance, and KNEST, who joined efforts to equip riders with practical road safety knowledge, financial literacy skills, and motorcycle maintenance best practices. The initiative underscores the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in enhancing rider welfare, professionalism, and road safety across the country.As part of the programme, MOGO Kenya also distributed safety equipment, including helmets and reflective jackets, and offered complimentary motorcycle servicing to improve rider safety and vehicle roadworthiness.
Speaking during the event, Becky Ngigi, Head of Public Relations at MOGO Kenya, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the boda boda sector beyond financing solutions.
“Boda boda riders are an essential part of Kenya’s transport network and contribute significantly to economic activity across the country. Through initiatives such as this, we aim to empower riders with the knowledge and resources they need to operate safely, professionally, and sustainably,” added Ngigi.
The boda boda industry remains one of Kenya’s largest employers, providing livelihoods for millions of households while offering critical transport services in both urban and rural areas. However, road safety continues to be a key concern, underscoring the need for continuous education and stakeholder collaboration.
MOGO Kenya noted that improving road safety requires collective action from riders, passengers, financiers, regulators, and communities. The company pledged to continue supporting initiatives that enhance rider welfare and contribute to safer roads across the country.
