OPPO Kenya Partners with MOGO to Expand Smartphone Access Through Flexible Financing

L-R: Mogo Head of Device Sales, Fred Muoka, together with OPPO Kenya’s National Distributor, Deeq Bure, at the official MoU signing ceremony.

Kenya today announced a strategic partnership with MOGO Kenya to offer flexible payment options for its core customers nationwide. The collaboration introduces accessible “lipa mdogo mdogo” smartphone financing options aimed at accelerating digital inclusion and advancing OPPO’s agenda to democratize access to innovative technology in Kenya.

As smartphones become essential tools for communication, business, education, and content creation, accessibility remains a significant barrier for many smartphone users. Through this partnership, customers will now be able to acquire OPPO smartphones via flexible installment plans powered by MOGO’s mobile financing, enabling more Kenyans to own reliable, high-quality devices without the burden of upfront payment.

The partnership  directly supports three key objectives:

  • Driving Digital Inclusion: Expanding smartphone access to underserved and price-sensitive segments.
  • Democratizing OPPO Technology: Making advanced features and innovation accessible to a broader market.
  • Advancing a Shared Vision: Aligning both brands’ commitment to push innovation, technology empowerment, and expanded access to technology.

With over 42 million smartphone users in Kenya and demand continuing to grow, flexible financing solutions are increasingly critical in bridging the affordability gap. By integrating MOGO’s financing model into OPPO Kenya’s retail network, customers across Kenya can walk into participating stores and access structured, transparent payment plans designed to fit their income cycles.

Beyond enabling consumer access, the partnership also strengthens OPPO’s retail ecosystem by driving higher store traffic, improved conversion rates, and deeper customer relationships among those seeking structured payment solutions.

Fredrique Achieng, PR Manager, OPPO Kenya (OPPO Authorized Distributor)
“At OPPO Kenya, our mission goes beyond delivering innovative devices; we are committed to ensuring that more Kenyans can access and benefit from the opportunities that digital connectivity provides. Partnering with MOGO allows us to remove affordability barriers and extend the reach of OPPO technology to customers who may otherwise delay or forgo smartphone ownership. This collaboration reinforces our long-term commitment to digital inclusion and to empowering individuals, entrepreneurs, and communities across Kenya.”

Fred Muoka, Head of Sales – Device Financing, MOGO Kenya
“Smartphones have become essential tools for everyday business in Kenya. From mobile money and online selling to content creation and customer engagement, millions of Kenyans depend on their phones to earn a living. With over 42 million smartphone users nationwide, demand continues to grow. Yet affordability remains a major barrier, especially as device prices have risen in recent years. Flexible ‘lipa mdogo mdogo’ financing models are therefore critical. Through our partnership with OPPO, we are making quality smartphones more accessible and supporting greater economic participation across the country.”
