AfCFTA Secretariat and CIGCI Explore Strategic Collaboration to Boost Africa’s Cocoa Sector

Accra, Ghana, 10 June 2025 – The AfCFTA Secretary-General, H.E. Wamkele Mene, met with Mr. Alex Assanvo, Executive Secretary of the Côte d’Ivoire-Ghana Cocoa Initiative (CIGCI), to explore avenues for collaboration aimed at advancing cocoa sector development under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.

The meeting centred on key priorities, including the need to catalyse investment into the cocoa sector and strengthen strategic partnerships that promote sustainable growth, value addition, and resilience across the cocoa value chain.

This engagement represents an important step towards harmonising regional efforts and unlocking the full potential of Africa’s cocoa industry through coordinated action and a shared development vision.
